Braveship: the excitement of presenting my first book

I take a deep breath, sit down and close my eyes to relive the emotions of yesterday.

My discussion with Mapi Danna, Francesco Frugiuele and Umberto Lago gave me the opportunity to bring out my personal aspects and business themes. It underlined how much my values and ambitions can intersect with those of the company, and how much personal inspiration becomes company ambition with objectives that lead to the creation of a new, shared and collective organisation. It was a direct and sincere discussion about my life and the organisation in which and for which I work every day. An organisation that has always involved the people who work there and who are enabling important organisational change.

The year spent writing, creating and publishing Braveship has been intense and full of valuable encounters. Many people have accompanied me along the way, offering me support and affection, even with just a gesture or a smile.

By my nature in and my role I’m used to putting myself on the front line, tackling obstacles and finding solutions. I often tell the story of Var Group and the people who are part of it every day, stressing how our model is based on collaboration and shared commitment, so fundamental to achieving the goals we set ourselves.

Yet placing myself at the centre of a story in front of so many people is new for me. Yesterday, for the first time, I presented my book Braveship at the Libreria Egea [Egea bookstore] in Milan. A work that talks about me, about the Var Group, and about the courage – the sometimes slightly crazy courage – that guided me along this path.

However, talking about myself in front of a large audience is a new experience. Seeing so many familiar faces in the audience gave me new energy and the confidence to tackle this challenge too. A sincere thank you to those who have supported me along the way and to those I will meet again. Everyone has left their mark on my story, helping me to become who I am today: quite simply, Francesca.
